A HELPFUL TIP FOR SMARTPHONE PICS!

This week I did something I haven't done in a long time: I shot every pic with my smartphone (iPhone 13 Pro). And because I shot all this week's pics with a smartphone, I figured I'd talk a little bit about that.

I used Portrait Mode on every shot I snapped this week. It's great because I can adjust the f-stop / aperture / blurriness, in the phone, when editing the image. Then there were color adjustments via the phone and Photoshop, plus adding in some effects when I thought they'd make the pic better.

So, if you're shooting with a smartphone, shoot it in a mode where you can adjust the aperture in the editing phase...it's a bit of a game-changer.

PICTURE-PERFECT PREORDERS

Some weeks, ya just gotta hide the wallet.

SHF went crazy with figures from all kinds of lines: Tekken, Chainsaw Man, My Hero Academia, Ultraman, Venom, and 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, which doesn't sound at all creepy. SHF usually has good articulation and plenty of accessories, so I expect all these to work wonderfully for pics!

Hasbro also went nuts with the first two Devastator figures, some photogenic Legends, and a couple incredible GI Joe characters! Nemesis Immortal is sold out, but save the link; I HAVE to think he'll go back up eventually.

But the big news has to be Mondo's Real Ghostbusters line, starting with Peter Venkman!

Yup. Some weeks ya just gotta hide the wallet.

NOTE: Entertainment Earth, eBay, and HobbyLink Japan links are affiliate links, which means I get a cut of the sale at no extra cost to you

THIS WEEK'S PATREON FREEBIES!

It was the last week of spooky season, so the week's Patreon freebies continued with that theme, but before I get to those...

Many thanks, once again, to Altered Reality!

First are a couple Halloween-style wallpapers. One's a haunted forest, and the other's a spooky-season neighborhood with pumpkins all over the place. Second are two graphics you can use any time of year: the first is a trio of ghosts, and the second is a tombstone you can place in the foreground of your image. Think Spider-Man stopping at Uncle Ben's grave. And finally, this week's hi-res image and Photoshop files.

So, if ya dig any of 'em, go get 'em!

Also, voting for October's Patreon photo contest is happening from now until Wednesday at 11:59 PM PST. So, if you're a member of the Toypixx Patreon, click here to vote for your favorite!

THIS WEEK'S VIDEOS

It was a livestream kinda week. And these were, as always, a blast!

On Monday, we spoke about the past week's photogenic figures, including the Viper troop builder with extra hands, and my personal faves, October's MAFEX figures!

On Wednesday (normally livestream's are on Thursday, but it was Halloween), I was able to announce the winner of October's YouTube photo contest, and then we just chatted all kinds of action figures and photography-related stuff.

Anywho, click the replays to check 'em out!

AND WITH THAT

You have a newsletter that showed up on time!

I had a bit of a social media slowdown this week as I work on figuring out the next step for Toypixx. There's going to be a big change within the next month or two, so it's possible I won't be on social media as much as normal until everything's settled down a bit.

But let's just say 2025's gonna be BIG, and I can't wait to share what's going on. I just need to iron out all the details, first.

And get to know all the baristas on a first-name basis.

Have fun, and happy snapping!

In fact, I don't think I have anything The Four Horsemen worked on. So why do I keep thinking about this thing? When I first saw it, yours truly was blown away. And honestly, seeing how well it was sculpted, I started thinking about the lighting setups that could show off all those scales. Then I started looking at reviews of the Valiant...

Marvel Legends (and Toy Biz's Spider-Man Classics before it) were the main gateways to everything you've seen me do as far as videos, livestreams, and photos. So it's weird to think I may never get another one. But after showcasing their brand-new Maximum Spider-Man, I realized the one thing I want them to do (make a ball-peg waist...

The Toypixx Newsletter February 16, 2025 PATREON YOUTUBE X/TWITTER INSTAGRAM WEBSITE WHY I DON'T CHAT PRICING Thomas Gray first wrote, "ignorance is bliss." Of course, that was a couple centuries before the internet. Though it was also around 1,000 years after coffee was discovered. Lucky guy. These days, as with pretty much all human history, many have opinions on things they're woefully ignorant of. The internet amplifies said ignorance. And in toy collecting, pricing seems to be the...
