THE FIRST MONTHLY TOYPIXX PHOTO CONTESTS!

September's photo contests begin today! So here are the details.

I'm running two contests: one on YouTube and one on Patreon. The YouTube contest is free, and the Patreon contest starts at the Grande tier ($5.00). Winner takes all in both contests, with both prizes being worth more than $25.00 retail (I'll announce the prizes in the next newsletter).

The rules are as follows:

  1. No nudity. I'll be posting these online for people to vote on, and the internet doesn't like naked toys. There's a joke in there somewhere.
  2. One entry / image per contest. You're welcome to enter both contests using the same image for both, or a different one for each.
  3. Must be 18 years or older.

Other rules may be necessary in the following months, but I'm hoping it never goes beyond these two.

Feel free to use any editing software you'd like for your image. I'll have entry details and voting parameters figured out in the next couple weeks. Entries will be due Sept 23, 2024 to give people plenty of time to vote. There's no theme this month, so shoot whatever you wanna shoot!

Finally, I'll pay shipping if the winner's in the U.S., the winner pays shipping if they're not.

Have fun, and happy snapping!

ENTERTAINMENT EARTH'S MAKING MOVES!

First, this sale goes through tomorrow! So go get some in-stock stuff at EE!

Next, EE is getting Marvel MAFEX for the first time ever! And I know this because I emailed them way back asking if they were going to carry Marvel MAFEX figures. I was told "no" because of exclusive deals. So, things changed. And that's rad. Because I love MAFEX.

But here's the BIG deal: Beginning Sept. 3rd, $7.95 flat-rate shipping on orders under $99, and FREE SHIPPING on orders $99 and above.

From a business perspective, I'll be curious how this plays out.

PICTURE-PERFECT PREORDERS

I'm conflicted. The newly-announced Boss Fight Studio Epic H.A.C.K.S. lack any kind of waist articulation, much less the coveted ball-peg waist, BUT...the designs are SO good! Whoever came up with the looks of these, as far as yours truly's concerned, absolutely killed it!

I really like NECA stuff, and seeing more anime / manga figures from Bandai's always a treat, but these just aren't doing it for me.

Sharman and Imp, on the other hand, are killer! Those are pure action figure art pieces.

Those are my thoughts on this week's photogenic figures. What are yours?

NOTE: Entertainment Earth, eBay, and HobbyLink Japan links are affiliate links, which means I get a cut of the sale at no extra cost to you

THIS WEEK'S PATREON FREEBIES!

It was another grand Patreon week! First things first...

This week brought a couple backgrounds and couple effects. People on social media gravitated toward the rings of light, so be sure to check them out if you think they'll help ya with your pics.

And, of course, this week's hi-res image and Photoshop files. And yes, there were six. Because Wednesday was Jack Kirby's birthday, and this particular figure photog didn't feel right attaining that knowledge and do nothing with it.

If ya dig 'em, go grab 'em!

THIS WEEK'S VIDEOS

It was another great week for livestreaming!

First, we got to talk about the figures that showed up for preorder that you and I think are gonna look great under your lights and in front of your lenses! And, of course, that week we discussed MAFEX. So life was extra awesome for yours truly.

We also discussed what I'm working on, Toypixx-wise, while I also took answers for what you folks want to see out of it. Because I want all of you to enjoy your Toypixx time!

And now, this past week's livestreams.

NOTE: No livestream tomorrow (Sept 2) due to the holiday, but I'm making up for it at 7:00 PM EST on Tuesday, Sept 3.

AND WITH THAT

It was a BIG week! And I'm looking to make this week even bigger.

And that's why there are empty coffee pots scattered, like a table full of figures that haven't been put on the display shelves yet, all over my living room. I kid, I kid. There are no scattered coffee pots.

But it'd be funny if there were.

Have fun, and happy snapping!

In fact, I don't think I have anything The Four Horsemen worked on. So why do I keep thinking about this thing? When I first saw it, yours truly was blown away. And honestly, seeing how well it was sculpted, I started thinking about the lighting setups that could show off all those scales. Then I started looking at reviews of the Valiant...

The Toypixx Newsletter February 23, 2025 PATREON YOUTUBE X/TWITTER INSTAGRAM WEBSITE I'LL LIKELY NEVER AGAIN GET MARVEL LEGENDS It's a weird thing to think about. Marvel Legends (and Toy Biz's Spider-Man Classics before it) were the main gateways to everything you've seen me do as far as videos, livestreams, and photos. So it's weird to think I may never get another one. But after showcasing their brand-new Maximum Spider-Man, I realized the one thing I want them to do (make a ball-peg waist...

The Toypixx Newsletter February 16, 2025 PATREON YOUTUBE X/TWITTER INSTAGRAM WEBSITE WHY I DON'T CHAT PRICING Thomas Gray first wrote, "ignorance is bliss." Of course, that was a couple centuries before the internet. Though it was also around 1,000 years after coffee was discovered. Lucky guy. These days, as with pretty much all human history, many have opinions on things they're woefully ignorant of. The internet amplifies said ignorance. And in toy collecting, pricing seems to be the...
